Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening
Underline

The Volusia County Health Department's Breast and Cervical Screening Program provides services that may include:
  • a clinical breast examination
  • mammogram
  • pelvic examination
  • a pap smear
These services are provided to:
  • uninsured
  • underinsured
  • women with limited incomes, ages 50 to 64
at no cost.

You will get screened for breast and cervical cancer. Following this visit the woman will be scheduled for a mammogram at one of the local mammography facilities. If you have an abnormal breast or cervical screening test, our program will pay for diagnostic services with breast and cervical health care specialist. If you are diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer, you may be eligible for free cancer treatment through the state Medicaid program. The case manager will assist you in enrolling in the Medicaid program when you give consent for treatment/care. The Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (FBCCP) is a volunteer program, and you may choose to drop out at anytime.

We strive to make the community aware of breast and cervical cancer, and that early detection is the key, and we are available to come out to your agencies and provide educational programs to the public as well as health professionals.

The Volusia County Health Department Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program is funded by a grant from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, through the Florida Department of Health Comprehensive Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.

For women under 50 year of age, please contact us for help in finding resources for Mammograms and Pap Smears.

Early detection is the key to more treatment options and to a greater chance of surviving breast or cervical cancer, for women of any ethnic background. Early detection includes, breast self-examinations, clinical breast exams, mammograms, and pap smears.
